Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Thank you for choosing FitGPT (referred to as the “Service” or “Application”). We take the privacy and protection of your information very seriously. This policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your information. Before using our app, we kindly ask you to thoroughly review this policy. By using our app, you agree to and accept this privacy policy.

This Privacy Policy applies to FitGPT, provided by Very Soft (referred to as “We” or “Developer”). Throughout this policy, we will clarify the following:

Definitions

You
the individual accessing or using the Service, or the legal entity accessing or using the Service on behalf of that individual, if applicable.
We
the Very Soft team (referred to as either “we,” “us,” “developer,” or “our” in this policy).
Application
an app named FitGPT, provided by us, which you can download onto electronic devices.
Personal data
any information that can identify a specific individual.
Service
our Application.
Account
the optional FitGPT account you can create by signing in with Google, which enables cloud backup and sync of your training data.
Third-party Media Service
any website or social networking platform where users can log in or create an account to access the Service.

Information and Permissions

The information we collect depends on how you use our services. We request only a small number of optional permissions to enhance your experience, and you are free to enable them to access the best features. Please note that even without these permissions, you can still enjoy our services.

App permissions (optional)

  • Notification permission (Android 13 and above): If you want to receive workout reminders from us, you need to enable notification permission. Reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device; we do not send push notifications from our servers, and no notification content leaves your phone.
  • Alarms & reminders: To deliver a workout reminder at the exact time you chose, the app schedules a local alarm on your device. It also re-registers your reminders after your device restarts, so a reminder you set is not silently lost on reboot. If you set no reminders, nothing is scheduled.
  • Camera (optional): Used for one feature only — the workout challenge that stops a Fitness Alarm. When an alarm rings and you start the challenge, the app asks for camera permission so it can count your repetitions by watching your movement. The camera is never used anywhere else in the app, and you can refuse or revoke this permission; details are in Camera and on-device rep counting below.
  • Alarms & full-screen notifications: Fitness Alarms are a clock-style feature, so the app schedules exact alarms and needs to show the ringing screen over your lock screen, turn the screen on, keep the device awake while the alarm rings, play the alarm sound through a foreground service, and vibrate. The app also re-registers your alarms after a restart, an app update, or a change to your device’s time or time zone, so an alarm you set is never silently lost.
  • Internet and network state: Required to sign in, sync your data when you have an account, load exercise images and animations, and check for app updates. The app also checks whether you are online so it can work offline gracefully and sync later.
FitGPT does not request access to your microphone, contacts, photos, files, location, or phone identifiers.

Camera and on-device rep counting

A Fitness Alarm is stopped by completing a short bodyweight workout — jumping jacks, squats, push-ups, high knees, sit-ups, or a held position — rather than by tapping a dismiss button. To count those repetitions, the app shows a camera preview and analyses the live video to estimate the position of your body’s joints.

Your camera images never leave your device.
  • The analysis runs entirely offline, on your phone, using a motion-detection model bundled inside the app. No frame is ever sent to us, to any server, or to any third party.
  • No photo or video is recorded, saved, or stored. Frames are examined in memory as they arrive and immediately discarded.
  • The camera runs only while the challenge screen is open, and stops the moment the alarm is finished, snoozed, or cancelled.
  • The only result that is kept is the count — how many repetitions you completed — which is used to stop the alarm and to track your alarm streak on your device.

Camera permission is requested at the moment you start a challenge, not at install time, and granting it is your choice. If you decline it, or if your camera is unavailable, you can still stop the alarm: the ringing screen offers a snooze (when the alarm allows one) and a long-press escape that always ends the alarm, so a denied permission or an injury can never leave you trapped with a ringing phone.

Fitness Alarms and reminders

The alarms you create — their times, repeat days, labels, chosen exercise and target, snooze settings and sound options — as well as your workout reminder times and your alarm streak, are stored only on your device. They are deliberately kept out of our database, because the phone on your nightstand is the one that has to ring. We never receive them, and they are not backed up to the cloud even when you are signed in.

The information you provide

When you set up the app, you can choose to enter details about yourself and your training, including: gender, age, height and weight (and your preferred units), your target weight, your fitness goal, your experience and activity level, where you train and what equipment you have, how often and how long you want to train, your preferred first day of the week, any focus areas, any injuries or limitations you want us to work around, and a short baseline fitness check (such as push-ups, squats, and plank time).

We use this information to build and adjust your workout plan, to estimate the calories burned in a session, and to show accurate progress reports. You can update or correct this information at any time in the app. Please note that these details are optional. If you choose not to provide some of them, it will not prevent you from using the main functions of the app, but it may reduce how well your plan and reports fit you.

Your activity in the app

All interactions within our app are referred to as “Your Activities.” This includes the plans you enroll in, the workouts and individual exercises you start and complete, the duration of each session, estimated calories burned, your workout history and streaks, your weekly goal settings, the alarm challenges you complete and your alarm streak, and your in-app preferences (such as reminder and alarm times and units). We use your activities and the information you provide to offer you a more personalized training experience while continuously improving our app.

Account and sign-in information

FitGPT can be used without registering or signing in. If you use the app without an account, your profile and training data stay in a database on your device only — we do not receive it, and it is not backed up anywhere. If you uninstall the app or lose the device, that data is gone.

You can also choose to sign in with your Google account so your training data is backed up and available on your other devices. When you do, we receive a user identifier, your email address, and basic public profile information (such as your name and profile picture) associated with that Google account, which is used to create and identify your FitGPT account. We never receive your Google password. Your sign-in is handled by Google and by our authentication provider, Supabase.

How We Use Your Information

  • To generate, personalize, and adjust your workout plans and daily sessions.
  • To calculate BMI, estimated calories burned, progress, streaks, and workout reports.
  • To back up your data and keep it in sync across your devices when you are signed in.
  • To deliver the workout reminders and Fitness Alarms you have set, and to count the repetitions that stop an alarm.
  • To tell you when a new version of the app is available, and what changed in it.
  • To respond to your feedback, bug reports, and support requests.
  • To maintain the security and reliability of the Service, and to diagnose and fix problems.
  • To comply with applicable law.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with data brokers, and we do not use it for advertising. FitGPT contains no advertising SDK and no third-party analytics or tracking SDK.

Our cloud storage and authentication are provided by Supabase. Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS, and access to your records is restricted by row-level security rules so that an account can only read and write its own data.

Third-Party Services

We keep third parties to a minimum. Those we do use are:

  • Google Sign-In (Google LLC): used only if you choose to sign in, to verify who you are. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase: our backend provider, used for authentication, cloud storage of your training data, and the app-update notice. See Supabase’s Privacy Policy.
  • UserJot: our feedback and feature-request board, opened inside the app when you choose to send feedback or view the roadmap. Anything you post there is handled under UserJot’s Privacy Policy. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in public feedback posts.
  • Google Play (Google LLC): after you have completed a number of workouts, the app may invite you to rate it. If you accept, the app opens the Google Play listing; if you decline, nothing is sent and your choice is remembered on your device. Google Play also distributes the app and any updates.

The motion-detection model that counts your repetitions is Google’s MediaPipe pose landmarker, which is bundled inside the app and runs offline on your device. Using it sends nothing to Google or to anyone else.

Exercise images and animations shown during workouts are loaded over the internet from our content providers, with attribution displayed in the app. Loading an image transmits standard technical request information (such as your IP address) to the host, as any web request does; no profile or training data is attached to it.

Data Retention

If you use the app without an account, your data lives on your device for as long as the app is installed, and deleting the app deletes it.

If you have an account, we retain your profile and training data for as long as your account exists, so that your history and progress remain available to you. You can erase it sooner at any time using the controls described below.

Your Choices and Controls

  • Use the app without an account: Signing in is recommended but never required; you can decline and continue with everything stored locally.
  • Edit your information: Your profile details, goals, units, and weekly targets can be changed at any time in the app.
  • Turn reminders and alarms off: Reminders and Fitness Alarms can be disabled or deleted in the app at any time; deleting an alarm removes it from your device immediately. Notification permission can also be revoked in your Android settings.
  • Control the camera: You can decline camera permission and still use every other part of the app, including stopping alarms. If you have already granted it, you can revoke it at any time in Android Settings → Apps → FitGPT → Permissions.
  • Reset your data: In Account Settings you can erase every training record on your account — profile, enrollments, workout history, and weekly goals — while keeping your account. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
  • Delete your account: In Account Settings you can request deletion of your account. The request is scheduled to take effect 30 days later, and your account keeps working during that window so you can change your mind; opening the app during the window gives you the option to cancel. After the 30 days, your account and all associated data are permanently deleted from our servers.
  • Sign out: Signing out stops syncing on that device.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request access to, correction of, portability of, or erasure of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Contact Us.

Children’s Privacy

FitGPT is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We protect your information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity: all network traffic uses HTTPS, cloud records are protected by per-user access rules, and the app ships with no secret server credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Health and Fitness Disclaimer

FitGPT provides general fitness content and estimates, including estimated calories burned and camera-based repetition and form detection, all of which are approximations. Rep counting can miscount, and it is not a substitute for proper coaching or supervision. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any exercise program, particularly if you have an injury or a medical condition.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and — where the changes are significant — notify you within the app. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
